Applications for the government’s wage subsidy scheme has jumped over the past two weeks, a Ministry of Innovation and Technology official said.

So far more than 7,200 companies have submitted applications for subsidies, helping more than 95,000 people keep their jobs, Sándor Bodó, the state secretary for employment policy, told an online press conference, adding that interest in the scheme remains keen. In the three-month support period, an average of 167,000 forints (EUR 475) is provided per employee, he noted. Most requests come from the manufacturing, tourism and hospitality, car-repair, transport and warehousing sectors, he said.
