SZTE Alma Mater is Waiting for the Application of Mentors

University

The university’s alumni organization, SZTE Alma Mater, will launch the Alumni Mentoring Program in the spring semester.

Those who have previously graduated from the University of Szeged or its predecessor institutions and would like to help develop the professional skills of current students as mentors are welcome to apply for the 15th round of the program.

Due to the epidemic situation, the opportunity for a face-to-face meeting was eliminated, however, in the previous semester, the Alma Mater website provided a perfect solution for organizing the program. The website made it easier for mentors and mentees to find each other and transfer professional experience.

Alumni mentoring is a personal relationship between an experienced professional and a student – in an informal way. The mentor shares his / her knowledge and experience with a student preparing for a similar career to help him / her progress. With the help of the website, several levels of mentoring can be realized, from simple and one-time help to continuous collaboration.

Ágnes Bóné, former mentor of the Alumni Mentoring Program said: “The aim of the program is basically to share our experience, our knowledge with the mentee. However, in addition to knowledge transfer, there is much more to mentoring. During the meetings, I noticed that I was also going through a kind of personal development, self-mentoring. Although my goal was not to receive, but to give, I still received a lot from the program”.

Mentors are welcome to apply at almamater@szte.hu. An online briefing on the Alumni Mentoring Program system and technical background will be held on January 25th, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. You can join the event here.
