The Institute of Nuclear Research has been expanded by a unique pharmaceutical laboratory. The equipment is able to detect if a medicine causes life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia.

Cardiac arrhythmia is one of the most frequent side effect of medicines but often detected only after a medicine has been circulated. By the usage of the equipment, this problem can be eliminated. Besides pharmaceutical companies, the Institute of Nuclear Research will also use the equipment for further researches.
The laboratory was financed by an EU tender complemented by the support of a pharmaceutical company. Its operation requires nuclear physics knowledge, that’s why it is in Debrecen.
It was introduced on Thursday, and the test operation is starting soon. While this technology is not spread, medicines will be sent from all over the world for testing.
