József Virga, president of the Foreign Affairs Committe of DEHÖK was elected as number one leader of ESN.

On 22nd and 23rd February, ESN held its national meeting at Debrecen. Two students got into the leading team. Besides József Virga, Barbara Nyúzó was elected as vice president for the financial affairs.

The operation of ESN is based on EU support. The organization is represented in 36 European countries, and in Hungary there are 16 local organizations. These Hungarian teams meet four times annually to have a discussion about and present their work, and to be up-to-date with new information, such as Erasmus+.

One of the greatest achievement of the previous year was the foundation of Hungarian Erasmus Students Foundation, which provides legal framework for ADVOCACY. The most important task of ESN at Debrecen is to help incoming students in getting through bureaucracy. The organization deals with outgoing mobility as well; they give practical tips to students going abroad, and then, they help overcome the so-called “post-Erasmus syndrome”, that is getting back to the “old life”.

József remains in the seat of presidency for a year, during which he tries to stabilize the organization. There is always a need for staff members who fill the position they fit and who are able to exchange knowledge. He also aims to get into contact with the European Youth Parliament, and open towards non-university programs too, such as “Erasmus in high schools”.  One of the greatest plans for the summer is to be represented at festivals like Campus or EFOTT and for autumn is to organize a camp in September for the incoming students.
